Video listening (with optional YouTube sub-titles). Interview with a young volunteer who worked with disabled people and food redistribution. Questions to answer in French. Could be used with an excellent GCSE class (top set), or more commonly Y12 (low advanced).

, Y10-11 (Intermediate)

Three short weird news items about animals. These are called "insolites" in French. There's a matching task, gap-fill, summary in English and vocabulary recall task. Nice if you fancy some reading outside the usual syllabus.

, Y12-13 (Advanced)

Advanced audio listening. An interview from France Bienvenue about issues surrounding wearing the veil in work and at university. The task is about correcting a faulty transcription, so requires intensive listening. Good discussion topic for A-level.

, Y10-11 (Intermediate)

Video listening. This is a 2m 40 sub-titled in French video about plastic waste in the oceans. I have written sentences to complete (not exact transcriptions). The sub-titles help scaffold the moderately hard content. Suitable for a very good Y10-11 class (intermediate).

, Y8 (Very low intermediate)

Another easy sentence builder frame, this time about using technology (phones and computers). As with the others there is a suggested teaching sequence. One teacher has been adding letter codes for each column/box.

, Y12-13 (Advanced)

Video listening. A 2018 report about home schooling from Brut/France Info. Gap-fill sentences to complete plus opportunity for discussion of the issues. The France Info archives are a treasure chest of reports.

, Adult students

A beginner's conversation for adult students. Meeting someone in the street. Listen, read aloud in pairs, then adapt to your own needs by changing underlined items. Translation provided.

, Y12-13 (Advanced)

Two new video listening tasks. (1) A very clear short report about a woman, Jacqueline Fleury, who was in the French Resistance, then deported to a concentration camp. She recounts some memories herself. Gap-fill, oral summary and vocab to note down. (2) A brief history of the Résistance with questions in English.

, Y8 (Very low intermediate)

I have added five easy "sentence builder frames" in the Y8 section (school, last weekend, next weekend, pastimes and holidays). These are designed to be accessible to ALL ABILITIES. I am planning to add more of this type of easier resource (partly in response to member feedback). Each sentence frame comes with a suggested teaching sequence for using it.

, Y12-13 (Advanced)

A text with exercises about a primary school introducing school uniform in Seine-et-Marne. Vocab to complete, correct sentences to spot, "Find the French", paired oral work and written summary. Suitable for the first year of an A-level course or AS-level (Edexcel sub-theme). It's a slightly tired topic, but one which can get classes talking and provides in this case some cultural knowledge (AO4).
