I have written a third GCSE (2026) Reading paper in line with specimens. This one is an AQA-style Foundation paper. With answers. These take a while to put together!

Six verb table grids to complete for Y12 revision. For completion and rote learning (if you value that). 15 verbs covered. Present indicative, present subjunctive, imperfect, future, conditional, passé composé. This supplements the previous six grids already on the site.

A text with exercises about the new policy to have ability/attainment groups for French and maths in French schools (sixième and cinquième, at first). Vocab to find, questions on the text, discussion questions and writing. Good for Y12 or Y13 - quite easy for them. CEFR B1.

Another dialogue for reading in pairs and adapting. This is about climate change and the environment. Higher GCSE. CEFR A2.

I've uploaded a new dialogue to add to the collection. This one is 'geeting to know you'. Pupils read the original in pairs, then make changes to parts in bold, using suggestions on the right. There are many others like this on the site. This one is for Y10, but could be used with fast younger groups. CEFR A1/2.

I have created a document, based on four blog posts, about teaching A-level. It includes links out to blog posts, so is pretty comprehensive, covering principles, working with texts, teaching film and literature, and preparing students for assessment. This would make a good handout for teachers new to teaching A-level. It is in the A-Level section and on the Free Samples page.

I've posted a second GCSE Higher Reading and Understanding paper based, this time, on the Pearson-Edexcel specimen. Answers given. These can be used for other purposes, of course, including end-of-year exams.

A vocab retrieval starter for near beginners. Pupils work in pairs. A makes a noise to represent a word on their list. B guesses. Then vice versa. Based on the game Soundiculous. Two word lists (12 items each) provided, one for each partner. Use with caution!! But could be a really fun starter or filler for the right class. CEFR A1.

I have added more examples and updated a file on the subjunctive. These are drills for oral and/or written practice of common subjunctive triggers. CEFR B1.

I have put together an AQA-style Higher Reading Paper for the 2026 exam (first teaching 2024). This takes into account the new stipulations about high frequency vocabulary. It could be a useful resource now.
