, Y9 (Low intermediate)

A starter called "Start my sentence". There are a total of 36 sentences. You read aloud the end, students note down or say the start (always a verb). Three tenses used. CEFR A2. On the Y9 page, but could be used with older students. Editable. Do as many as you want as a starter, filler or plenary.

Video listening (kind of). A short video showing the 10 most popular dishes in France in 2022. I have provided a possible commentary, but, depending on how much the class already knows, you could teach this informally, eliciting what the students (maybe adults) already know. CEFR B1/2. I have place this on both the A-Level and Adult pages.

A parallel reading task on the topic of sea level rise. (15-25cm since 1901.) Parallel texts, correct sentences to spot and vocab to complete. One of the scarier consequences of the climate crisis. CEFR A2.

, Y7 (Beginner)

A starter or general lesson activity for beginners with possible literacy/spelling issues. 'Spelling challenge'. 10 slides, editable. Display the gapped sentence (with some missing letters focusing on common mis-spellings). Students complete the sentence in writing, then see the correct version. You could dictate the same sentences as a follow-up. CEFR A1.

, Y12-13 (Advanced)

Video listening. A short report about the growing demand for French lessons in Quebec for newly arrived immigrants. Questions in French. Model answers given. CEFR B1.

, Y12-13 (Advanced)

Video listening. A captioned video report about the daily life of a farmer in the Vaucluse (south of France). Some vocab given, then sentences to complete. Answers provided. Good for Y12 or Y13, or intermediate/advanced adult learners. CEFR B1.

I have uploaded a few sound files to the 'Correct the transcript' listening exercises on the Y10-11 page. These are all complete. You can use the free Microsoft app Text to Speech and MP3 to do this, by the way.
