A starter for beginners. 20 'true or false' slides. Students must correct the false statements.

, Y10-11 (Intermediate)

A 7-page set of texts and exercises on the topic of TV. This set of resources was co-written with my colleague Gianfranco Conti and is separately for sale in out TES shop Language Teacher Toolkit. (There are a good number of other resources there, some free.) This unit of work consists of narrow reading texts, exercise and translations. Answers given. Good extension work. Higher GCSE. , Y12-13 (Advanced)

A parallel gapped translation task for Y13 (CEFR B1/2). The topic is an initiative to counter sexting and other forms of cyber-bullying in Quebec. This could be done as paired dictation, but the task is really designed for one person to complete the gapped parallel translations.

, Y10-11 (Intermediate)

A text with exercises about the International Girls' Day (11th October - 10th anniversary in 2022). Short text, words to find with hints, a bullet point summary to do in English. Answers given. (CEFR A2). Scroll right down the left-hand column.

A text about what French people say and do when clinking glasses during an apéro. Origins of 'tchin tchin'! True/false and a paragraph to explain in English. One for adult learners, perhaps!

, Y12-13 (Advanced)

A resource on slavery in Guadeloupe. Two parts: first, a brief history with questions in English. Second, a set of TripAdvisor comments about the Mémorial Acte museum in Point-à-Pitre with a matching tasks and vocab to find. Good for Y12 (CEFR B1) as part of a heritage topic.

, Y10-11 (Intermediate)

A 30 minute 'instant listening' task. The Channel Tunnel. Aimed at Foundation GCSE (CEFR A2). Could be used with a reasonable Higher group. Gap-fill with options and a faulty transcript to correct. Answers and translation given. Good intensive listening practice. Can be read aloud or played with the accompanying MP3 file (good text-to-speech).
