I have uploaded an audio listening task based on the Basque country text I previously shared as a written text. This can be used as a lecture. Audio file available (text to speech).

An "Ask the experts" communicative task based on three short texts about the culture of the Basque country. Usual format: students find information from the three 'experts', each of whom have a paragraph. Then all the information is combined for oral summary or writing. A nice way to deal with information-heavy texts.

A text and exercises about parents who want their children to receive a bilingual education in Quimper, Brittany. Text, vocab to find, comprehension, paired vocab test, gap-fill. Good opportunity for conversation about the value of bilingualism and immersion. Regional heritage theme. CEFR B1.

A teacher-led vocab retrieval game, with a grid of bracketed gaps to complete like a football championship. Instructions given in the slides. Also placed on the Y8 page. An idea I nabbed from the Henshaw and Hawkins book Common Ground (2022). Merci.

A Kim's Game on PowerPoint for beginners. Farm animals. The set of slides forms a lesson sequence of roughly 25 minutes. CEFR A1.

A set of five slides, each with a gao-fill to do to a time limit, say 1 minute per slide. Future tense verbs. CEFR A1/2.

A 'do now' starter or filler. 5 gap-fill slides. To be done to a time limit, say 1 minute per slide. Correct past participles to insert. Could be used with a fast Y8 group. CEFR A1/2.

Video listening. A song called Les Séquoias by Pomme. A simple song with an environmental theme. Words/phrases to find and a true false in both English and French. A vocab glossary is provided. There is a choice of two video links, depending on the version of the song you prefer. Higher GCSE. CEFR A2.

A set of 5 "do-now" retrieval grids, using various verbs in the present tense, first person. Remember these grids can be edited if you want to practise other parts of verbs of different vocab chunks. CEFR A1.
