Video listening. Another one from Arte Junior, this time a portrait of Zico, living in bombed out Benghazi, Libya. This is a well scaffolded task where students complete sentences by choosing a word with three options. Once again this is an eye opener for students.

A strip bingo game on the topic of clothing. You could play this game remotely in a live lesson. Strip bingo is easy to prepare with individual words or chunks. Leave the words displayed. LOTS of repetition!
I have added to the Y8 (and Y9) page a checklist of further activities you could use to exploit the narrow listening and narrow reading resources. Many of them can be used with short, simple written texts in general.
A "narrow listening" exercise on the topic of TV/streaming. Usual format: four short paragraphs to read as students do true/false and matching. Other exercises could also be done using the same source material.
A simple transformational drill, requiring changing positive to negative sentences in the perfect tense. Some simple translations too. Drills like this can be done orally first, then in writing for reinforcement.
A "translate and transcribe" task using the song Si jamais j'oublie by Zaz. Students listen to the YouTube clip and translate an English version of the lyrics back into French.
Battleships game using either the future or near future with chunks. Topic: next weekend.
