Video listening, advanced level. What is canna..is? (In case your school filtering system is averse to certain substances.) Linked to a 1jour1question video from Milan Presse with cartoons. Sentences to translate into French using transcription of the commentary. Fast but clear. Students could also take notes in English if you prefer.

, Y10-11 (Intermediate)

Intermediate reading comprehension with questions in English. This is about a young African boy brought up in wartime Germany, who wanted to join the Nazi party, survived the war and eventually became the editor of a US magazine for African-Americans. Interesting story.

Video listening. Young childen talking about holidays. This is another one from the Les Enfants du XXIe siècle series on Youtube. Always amusing. Good authentic language at a simple level. Gapfill with teacher's answers. Offered as a fee sample.

Year 7/Primary resource to practise il y a, but mainly il n'y a pas de.... Short powerpoint presentation based on a picture of a 19th century classroom. (Some would say not so different from today's!) Simple sequence with written prompts for repetition, leading to description of the students' own classroom. Good for revision of classroom objects too.

Video listening. C'est quoi, être pauvre? Another super little video about poverty from the 1jour1question series. What is it? What is the poverty threshold? Role of recession. Role of state and charities. Clear and concise. Easy introduction to the theme. Questions in French and some discussion. Teacher's answers given.

Video listening: immigration. Young children talking. From the Les Enfants du XXIe siècle series on Youtube. Very good! It's interesting to see this mix of wisdom and half formed, picked up ideas. I've done a gap fill for this with teacher's answers. You could use it with adults and excellent Y11 classes (upper intermediate).

Video listening for advanced (A2) level. Economic growth explained. From the 1jour1question series. Students must translate sentences from English to French based on what they hear. Direct transcription is advised. Useful knowledge for students who know little about economics.

Easy intermediate video listening. Another one from the Les enfants du 21e siècle series (La Maternelle Officiel/Youtube). This one is on books and reading. A bright Y8/9 class could do this, but it may suit average ability Y10-11 better. Gapfill and simple sentences to write based on the gapfill.
