A retrieval starter for Y9 (or above). Students make as many sentences as possible from a word cloud in five minutes. Suggestions for use are provided. In the word cloud there are only 'content words' so students have to provide the rest. A1/2.

A text with exercises about the inadequate care of prison inmates with psychological disorders. Text, vocab to find and a summary in French to write. A model summary is provided. AQA sub-theme: how criminals are treated. B1/2.

Students are shown a sentence on a slide and must write down what happened next to a time limit of two minutes, using three sentences. Could be done in pairs or individually. 20 slides to choose from. Adapt as you wish. This would suit a class with good prior knowledge and flair.
